AIM offers a wide variety of dance classes and levels. Our faculty meets regularly to discuss our students’ progress and placement. It is our policy to offer appropriate opportunities to every child. Placement decisions are derived from many years of teaching experience.
Please trust our experience in this area.
It is essential that the proper dance clothes and shoes be worn at all times. It is your benefit as a dancer to dress properly. At the time of registration we will inform you as to the type of shoe required for each class. All dance shoes and merchandise can be purchased or ordered in the studios dance boutique. All students must have their hair pulled back and secured away from their face and neck. Absolutely no baggy t-shirts, sweatpants or pajama bottoms are to be worn in class. No jewelry or chewing gum. Street shoes are NOT allowed on the dance floors.
Students must come to class on time & prepared. Regular attendance is imperative to the dancers’ progress. Dance class is a group effort and therefore absence affects everyone. Make up classes are offered. There are no deductions on monthly tuition for missed classes.
Classes begin in September with the annual recital held in May/June at Oliver Ames High School Theatre. All students have the opportunity to participate in the recital. Students will also have the opportunity to dance at community events, nursing homes, as well as parades throughout the season. Please note that Oliver Ames Theater has limited weekends available for Dance Recitals and we are assigned a date by OA each year after submitting our preferences.

WHAT ARE YOU DANCING ON???
All of our floors at AIM are custom floating dance surfaces. This type of flooring system allows for the instructor and students to perform and practice safely. Each time a dancer jumps, around 3 times their body weight is returned. Over time, this can cause fatigue and severe injury. A floating floor allows the wood and foam to flex and absorb the dancers energy, giving them a safe return as they land jumps and high energy movements. A sprung flooring system provides lateral foot support and a springy energy absorbent surface. It also reduces vibration on the knee joints and back after impact.
Always be sure to ask if your studio has floating dance floors!
