Ballet is the foundation from which all dance comes from. Ballet comes highly recommended as it promotes correct body placement, strength and coordination. Each class will consist of barre, center, and grand and petite allegro work (based upon level). Once a student has mastered proper technique, a student may be able to advance to Pointe; which is at the discretion of the teacher.  This is the basic foundation of all dance forms.  It teaches proper placement, grace and poise.  Class will help develop strength and flexibility.

Contemporary

Contemporary is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and ballet. Interpretive dance using balance and control. Increase flexibility, strength, and stamina. Learn how to use breathe and body awareness to enhance ability and express identity. Instruction is designed to awaken individual talents and freedom of self-expression.

Hip-Hop

Hip Hop offers students a more relaxed environment to learn combinations and dance moves. Hip Hop introduces students to the latest dance moves as seen on TV, music videos and in the movies! Because Hip Hop requires a student to fully understand musicality.

ACRO FOR DANCERS

Acro-Dance is the beautiful fusion of the artistic motion of dance and the athleticism of acrobatics. Often defined by its unique choreography, Acro-Dance blends seamlessly classic dance styles with acrobatic movement. The dance styles can be really anything, from a fast paced jazz routine to a slow and beautiful lyrical, or a completely out there contemporary piece.

Dance training is essential to the success of the Acro-Dancer. Training in acrobatics increases strength, balance, aerobic stamina and flexibility that will greatly benefit the dancer in their other classes.

Musical Theater

Musical Theatre Jazz is a class that will blend classic jazz choreography with character-driven emotions and performed to exciting songs from past and present Broadway musicals. Dancers will learn choreography from musical theatre choreographers including: Bob Fosse, Susan Stroman, Jerome Robbins, Christopher Gatelli, Kathleen Marshall, and Andy Blankenbueler. Weekly combinations will be taught to musicals like: Hamilton, Hairspray, Newsies, Matilda!, Chicago, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and others.

Competitive Teams

Team and Company Members will be expected to compete in 3 competitions per year. Competitions are a wonderful outlet for children who are interested in the performing arts. It helps to build self-esteem, good sportsmanship and friendships that will last a lifetime. It also teaches students important values like time management and personal responsibility. We strongly believe that the values and training our Team and Company members receive prepares them to succeed in every facet of their lives.

We must disclose that being a part of the Dance Team is much more involved than regular recreational dancing in terms of commitment level and financial obligation. Students are required to dance for a specified amount of time per week depending upon level. Attendance should be consistent and constant. Financially speaking, costs to think about include: costumes, tuition, competition fees, travel/hotel fees (when necessary), convention fees and rehearsal fees (when necessary). It is a true family decision, so please consider your lifestyle, limitations and needs before committing to the company.
